Seit 2015 verleiht das MOVE IT! Filmfestival den “Filmpreis für Menschenrechte und Entwicklung” an einen von der Festivaljury ausgewählten Film, der für seine herausragende filmische Darstellung mit Menschenrechtsbezug geehrt wird und gleichzeitig soll das besondere Engagement der Regisseur*in ausgezeichnet werden. In diesem Jahr wird der mit 5.000 Euro dotierte Filmpreis von der Sächsischen Staatskanzlei finanziert.

Im Jahr 2022 geht der Preis an PAOLA CALVO und PATRICK JASIM für ihren Film LUCHADORAS.

PAOLA CALVO ist eine in Venezuela geborene Filmregisseurin und Kamerafrau. Ihre Leidenschaft gilt dem Bild als Ausdrucksmittel der Kommunikation. In Madrid machte sie 2005 ihren Bachelor-Abschluss in Medienwissenschaften an der Universidad Complutense. Ein Jahr später begann sie ein Studium der Kameraführung an der Deutschen Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (dffb). Der 90-minütige Dokumentarfilm „Violently Happy” war ihr Abschlussfilm an der dffb, für den sie beim IFFF 2017 den National Prize for Cinematography erhielt.

Ihr aktuelles Projekt, “Luchadoras”, porträtiert Kämpferinnen aus der Stadt der Frauenmorde, Ciudad Juárez. “Luchadoras” ist die erste Zusammenarbeit zwischen Paola und dem Regisseur und Kameramann  PATRICK JASIM.

Sein Kamera-Debut „Stubborn Boy“ wurde auf der Berlinale 2015 aufgeführt. Der Dokumentarfilm „Helmut Berger: My Mother and Me“, für den er ebenfalls Kamera führte, feierte bei dem prestigereichen Max Ophüls Preis Filmfestival seine Premiere und hatte 2019 seinen deutschen Kinostart.

Since 2015 MOVE IT! Film Festival has been awarding the “Film Prize for Human Rights and Development” to a film selected by the festival jury. This film is thereby honored for its outstanding cinematic presentation with a human rights focus and at the same time recognizes the special contribution of the director. The film award, endowed with 5.000 EUR, is financed this year by the Saxon State Chancellery.

In 2022 the winners are Paola Calvo and Patrick Jasim for her film LUCHADORAS.

PAOLA CALVO is a Venezuelan-born film director and cinematographer. Her passion is image as a means of expression of communication. In Madrid in 2005 she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Media Studies from the Universidad Complutense One year later she started studying cinematography at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb). The 90-minute documentary „Violently Happy“ was her graduation film at the dffb, for which she received the National Prize for Cinematography at IFFF 2017. Her most current project, “Luchadoras,” portrays female fighters from the city of female homicides, Ciudad Juárez. “Luchadoras” is the first collaboration between Paola and the director and cinematographer PATRICK JASIM.

His camera debut „Stubborn Boy“ was screened at the Berlinale 2015. The documentary „Helmut Berger: My Mother and Me“, for which he also directed the camera, premiered at the prestigious Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival and had its German cinematic release in 2019.
